Cambodia

I have recently had the privilege of visiting Phnom Penh in Cambodia to see the work of a charity called 'Helping Hand' that a friend of ours from the Island set up. The charity works in a 'slum' in the south of the city where conditions are pretty terrible. It was a complete shock for me to experience the sights and the smells of many people's daily lives! The children, and the families, living there are so beautiful and generous but they live an incredibly hard life. The children, especially the girls, are very vulnerable to exploitation. The charity 'Helping Hand' aims to sponsor children from the slum so that they can go to school and have the opportunities that an education will provide. They also have a building right on the edge of the slum where the children go for extra tuition and for social times together. Seeing the children who are sponsored, the difference it has made in their and their families’ lives, and the light that they shine out into the rest of the community is incredible!! Please pick up a leaflet to find out more and please sponsor a child! Or see their website: www.helpinghand.support

There are loads more children that need sponsoring! Seeing the poverty and their lives first-hand has left me thinking that "it should not be like this!"

Please help to make the change!
