Hot Bed Experiment

This week Sully has been working hard and has built a hot bed for us to use. Hot beds were used lots by the Victorians and are filled with fresh manure, ideally horse. After a couple of days, as the manure rots down, it starts to give a good load of heat. Sully has used pallets to construct the frame and we have added some insulation to keep the heat in and filled it with fresh horse manure.

We are now set, ready to put trays of onion seed on top to see if they can get enough heat to germinate this time of year!
